Phew - it’s been quite a stretch of two days here. I won’t bore ya’ll with the details of our anti-climactic embassy appointment (a breeze) or the somewhat whirlwind hand off on Thursday. Suffice it to say - Thursday night was rough, but somehow Carmen slept a good 8 hours. Yesterday (Friday) was great, absolutely great in the morning and afternoon, but the evening was little rough also. But then something happened. Around 9:00 or so, all three of us totally crashed in bed. I mean totally. Nobody even stirred until midnight, then Carmen cuddled a bit with each of us off and on throughout the night.
We all woke up around 7AM in a great mood, ready for the day, which has been fantastic so far. I’m stealing a few extra minutes at the end of CJs second nap. Here are some long awaited pictures - maybe I’ll get down here tomorrow to post some thoughts about how we are getting to know our daughter. Let’s just say she’s huge! 24lbs at 11 months is big by anyone’s standards. She’s crawls well, stands up with some help, but isn’t really all that close to walking.
She’s very tactile as the red-head would say - loves to touch everything, rub your hands, hair, even feet and legs, but not particularly talkative at this point. That might change as the transition continues - we’ll see.

So glad to hear about the uneventful embassy appointment and that things are going as well as can be expected. Looks like 24 lbs of pure sweetness to me! And a big huge CONGRATULATIONS! I’m so excited for you all!
WOW, no doubt she’s a big baby! My 19-month-old is big for her age and she’s 26 pounds! She’s a gorgeous girl!
I’m so glad that things are going well.
I’ve been following your blog since you were waiting for your daughter’s referral (I no longer recall how I came across you). It is a joy to see you united as a family. Many congratulations.
Stefanie, Mom to 19-month old Guatemalan girl
I am so happy you have your baby girl, SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH! This journey has been a long one for you, congratulations. Carmen is too cute for words.
