Not gonna take too much of your time with prose - these pictures should say everything.
Our dear Carmen turned one yesterday! We celebrated with family and friends gathered at the house for lunch, cake, and cool toys and cloths.
The weather’s been fantastic here lately, so we spent some time outside this weekend as well. CJ’s all about the out of doors. Grandpa bought us some marine strength rope and helped us hang a swing from the big maple tree out back. This evening, she crawled her way to one of the flowerbeds and began to explore beneath the mulch. I’m thinking I’m going to have to add a sandbox to the tree swing in order to hold us over until I’m able to construct a more sophisticated play set.
We tried to space out the excitement by sticking a day of chilling at home between a day out and about the birthday party. All in all, CJ handled the weekend well, but we’ll be taking it easy at home this week to recover!
Our outing involved a trip to Cabelas - where we discovered how much Carmen loves to hang out up high on Daddy’s shoulders.

A bunch of presents arrived in the mail, including cloths, a Strawberry Shortcake doll, and - um - well, some silverware. Guess which give was the biggest hit?

Here’s the obligatory messy baby photo after diving into a cupcake and ice cream. I’m pretty sure CJ’s partial to the ice cream.

Cool cuteness!

Ok, I’m pretty sure I’ll get in trouble for this one, but I can’t control where people leave their empty drink containers, and I can’t predict what Carmen might find said container to be a worthwhile toy. It’s a real risk to post this lest I leave the wrong impression about birthday parties in the S home.
But. Well, um - this is just too cute. All she has to say is….
Wanna cold one?
